Patriotic view

Here's a short photo tour of "Henri Chapelle" American Cemetery in Belgium.
Six decades ago it served as a pivotal turning point during WWII, better known as "the Battle of the Bulge."
Today it commemorates that moment and those soldiers, and also provides one of the most scenic overlooks I've found. The view from the hill into the valley below is breathtaking.
If you look closely, you'll see the state seal of Florida on one of the pillars of the monument, as are all the other state seals ... or territories as they were at the time.

I think I've seen these posted before and they are even better the second time. Thanks for this great reminder.
We were in Belgium last year on the 4th too. It was blustery cold (as Belgium summers can be). A neighbor invited us over to raise the American flag together up the flag pole that usually flies the flag of Belgium. Then he told me stories about when he was a child of his memories of the American troops. Besides freeing Europe, an added perk was that the Americans also brought chewing gum --> which he remembers fondly to this day.
What a fabulous place for you to be on July 4th, Bob... What memories.. We ALL remember reading about the Battle of the Bulge. Great history---and obviously a great view.
